Care for your cups

We choose to use a grade of stainless steel (SS201) that is known to be stronger than other types (e.g., SS304).   Type 201 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel that was developed originally to conserve nickel.

You can keep your cups looking good with responsible care and cleaning. Your stainless steel cups will continue to thrive with regular proper cleaning.  For everyday cleaning of soils, dust, dirt and fingerprints, a mild soap/detergent (dish detergent) and warm water solution should be used. Use the solution to remove the soil, rinsing with fresh water and a clean cloth, and dry completely. The stainless steel cup is also dishwasher safe. Silicone parts do best when hand washed.

For continued care limit exposure to harsh cleaning products, bleach, chlorine, ammonia, abrasives, steel wool and steel brushes.

This is our guidance if you ever see appearance of corrosion on any SS201 steel. You can use the following steps:

  1. 1.Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 2 cups of water.

  2. 2.Rub the baking soda solution on the rust stain using a toothbrush. Baking soda is non-abrasive and will gently lift the rust stain from the stainless steel. It also will not damage the grain of the stainless steel.

  3. 3.Rinse and wipe the spot with wet paper towel. You will see the rust on the paper towel.
